What We Do
East Glenville is an all-volunteer department providing fire suppression, emergency medical response, vehicle rescue, and fire police traffic control across the district. See the Members page for who leads each of these areas today.
The Fire Company
The Fire Company is the membership side of the department — every active and inactive volunteer, governed by an elected executive board and led by the Firematic officers listed on the Board page. The Company meets monthly to organize the department's non-emergency life: fundraisers, the annual Open House, firehouse tours, and community events. Because the department receives no additional funding for these activities, the Fire Company's annual fund drive is what makes them possible.
A Brief History
Organized in 1943 by area residents meeting at the Gleason Schoolhouse, and formally approved as East Glenville Fire District No. 3 on September 5, 1944. The department moved into its current firehouse at 433 Saratoga Road in 1996, and its apparatus and training have kept pace with the district ever since — most recently a 100-foot aerial ladder in 2012 and a rescue engine in 2018.
